Our Story

About Us — Shiny Objects, Inc.

We buy things because they're interesting. That's the whole business model.

Shiny Objects, Inc. started with a simple, slightly embarrassing premise: we kept
finding things online that we didn't need, couldn't justify, and bought anyway. A
melting-clock sculpture. A hourglass that makes tiny sand mountains. A doormat with a
tiger on it that's somehow more dignified than it sounds. Eventually we figured, if
we're going to keep doing this, we might as well let other people do it with us.

So that's the store. A curated pile of genuinely well-made, slightly unusual things —
decor, desk stuff, the occasional accessory — picked because they cleared a very
specific bar:

**interesting enough to make you look, made well enough that you're glad you did.**

What we're not

We're not a store that sells whatever's trending this week and calls it "curated." We
pass on things that are cheap and gimmicky just as often as we pass on things that are
nice but boring. If it doesn't make us want to own it ourselves, it doesn't make the
cut.

We're also not going to pretend this is a serious operation. It's a small business
that takes the *products* seriously and not much else. Expect straightforward
shipping, real customer service, and copy that doesn't take itself too seriously —
because neither do we.

Where things come from

We work with a network of makers and suppliers rather than manufacturing everything
ourselves, which means we can offer things that are genuinely well-made without the
markup of a boutique storefront. It also means shipping takes a little longer than
same-day delivery — worth it, we think, for things you can't just find at the mall.

The name, if you're wondering

"Shiny Objects" is about as literal as it gets. We see something shiny (metaphorically
— sometimes literally), we want it, we assume you might too. "Inc." is there because
it sounded funnier next to a company built on impulse purchases.

Curious goods. Dubious life choices.

That's not just a tagline — it's basically our mission statement. Thanks for being
here.
